This complex project was carried out in three phases over a period of two years with Dolby remaining in occupation throughout. The works included extensive Audio Visual and data installations with the construction of new “Atmos” sound studio facilities and technical rooms throughout the building.
Structural strengthening works to the existing building fabric was also required to accommodate the additional loads imposed by the high acoustic separation requirements. Extended plantroom facilities at roof level were also constructed to accommodate the new services installations throughout the building.
Open plan office areas and kitchen areas were refurbished and the Ray Dolby lounge together with the main reception, central core and WC areas were refurbished together with all open plan office areas, kitchen areas and WC facilities.
New sound studios, grading rooms and technical rooms were constructed throughout the vaulted brick basement and a new lift was installed, with the existing lift shaft also being extended into the basement.
Kingfisher Associates were re-engaged by Dolby as Project Managers, Employers Agent and Quantity Surveyors for the full refurbishment and fit out of their grade 2 listed building in Soho Square.
